Phu Quac –
A group of tourists from Taiwan suffered while on holiday to Vietnam. Instead of being happy, they were left stranded.
Reporting from Vietnam Express on Thursday (15/2), 292 Taiwanese tourists vacationed on Phu Quoc Island, Vietnam. They rented a tour from the We Love Tour tour agency in Taipei.
The tour service then collaborated with local travel agent Winner Vietnam. They booked a four-day tour and departed on Chinese New Year (10/2).
Their vacation story fell apart because of the tour agent.
Initially, the Taiwanese partners promised to make full payment by January 31. But they failed to pay and the local tour agent immediately canceled the contract.
Instead of sending payment, Taiwanese tour agents sent all the tourists there without any reservations. Worse yet, there was no bus to pick them up at the airport, nor was the hotel booked.
These tourists were hanging around at the airport. They also demanded that the travel agent be held responsible.
Taiwanese partners don’t seem to know themselves, they just call local tour agency owners and ask for their tourists to be served. Even though the payment has not been fulfilled.
Out of pity, Ha Tuan Minh, director of local agency Winner Vietnam, sent 18 buses and Mandarin-speaking tour guides to Phu Quoc Airport.
The Taiwanese tourist agent then promised to pay by February 11. However, until the tourists finished their holiday, the payment was not paid in full.
When they wanted to go home, these tourists were confused. They were again stranded at the airport without a plane ticket.
The Taiwanese agent again made sweet promises. Finally, 292 tourists were sent home on a charter plane from Bamboo Airways. The payment is owed!
Bai Quoc Thai, head of the Kien Giang Tourism Department, announced that his department will work with officials in Phu Quoc City to review the contract between the companies We Love Tour of Taiwan and Winner Vietnam.
He criticized the irresponsible actions of Taiwanese travel agents. Stranding tourists is an offense and will be subject to sanctions.
The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Ho Chi Minh City contacted both parties and asked the Taiwanese company to make full payment by February 26. Meanwhile, local Vietnamese agents are still continuing to receive tourists.
On the social media forum Today.line.me, many Taiwanese people criticized We Love Tour for ignoring customers and committing fraud, and called on the authorities to deal with the company firmly.
